i just picked up an 02 explorer with a 4.6. the owner said the original motor blew, and they dropped another motor in. i know its a V8, its got the plastic/aluminum intake, and thats about it. it very well may be another 02 v8, id just like to confirm what it is though.

i checked the location on the side of the block where the stamp is supposed to be, but rust took its toll and the stamp is gone.

so, is there any other place on the block i can look for stampings or serial numbers? or anything in particular to tell what car it may have come out of?
