I have an 86 F350 that the king pins are shot in and after the last experience I had changing king pins I am contemplating swapping the I-beams, radius arms, springs. brakes, etc out of a 1993 F350 which has ball joints instead, I saved the entire frontend out of the 93 when I parted it out because it had just been rebuilt. Will it work or should I brush up on my swearing in preparation to R&R those king pins? Thanks
I am not too familiar with the 2wd trucks, but I do know the 4x4 units swap right in. I would venture to say yours will swap in also, but you will have to do the complete unit. If you try to keep spindles from one, rotors from the other, calipers from one, etc you may run into trouble doing that.
Pretty sure Dave is right. Same here in that my info is more applicable to 4WD, but I just went through the brakes on my son's 86 Bronco. 92 and later have a redesigned caliper and different brake rotors. The hub still fit my 4X4 spindle, but the rotor is significantly thinner. Earlier brakes mount with those pins you drive in with a hammer and the later ones were fastened with 2 bolts. Not sure if the caliper bracket interchanges on the beams.

It is a 4x2 I guess I should have mentioned that to begin with, as for the 93 axles they are complete as they can be ie, calipers, rotors, tie rods and even the radius arm brackets. I assume I can use the 86 brake hoses on the 93 calipers because the 93 hoses are different. Here is a picture of the old truck, i am pretty proud for $500 bucks
You can definitely use your hoses, but if it's like a 4wd you should be able to re-use your calipers, they didn't switch to the bolt on ones until 95 on the 4x4's. I have 86 calipers on a 93 axle in my wheeling rig.
