Replacment drums availability

Ive got a closed knuckle dana 44 hd. Im in need of replacment drums and wheel cylinders. Does anyone know if there is a source for these in Canada. The previous owner replaced everything but the drums and now its been sitting so long the cylinders are shot to.

I'm going to guess you've already tried Lordco without success...
How about RockAuto?

I would suggest Rockauto as well. The prices on the drums for my 66 dana rear were better than any other source and the quality is very good....correct fit as well!

Front drums and front wheel cylinders are different: 3,000 lb. capacity vs. 3,500 lb. capacity front axle.

I just ordered them though napa they said that the new drums are 12 x 2.5 and thats what mine measured at. $85 each I thought that was pretty cheap.

Well done.
Our trucks are now so old that the first question isn't "how much" but "where can I get one of those".

No 1964 F250 came with 12" x 2 1/2" drum brakes.

ALL 1955/65 F250 2WD & 1959/72 F250 4WD have 12 1/8" x 2" front/rear drum brakes.

Beginning in 1966, F250 2WD Camper Specials and F250 2WD's with 7500 lbs. GVWR have 12" x 2 1/2" front/rear drum brakes.

If 1968/72 F250 2WD's have optional front disc brakes, the rear drum brakes are 12" x 2 1/2."

Otherwise, all 1966/72 F250 2WD's have 12 1/8" x 2" front/rear drum brakes.

I remeasured and they are 12 1/8 x 2 dont know how missed this. Unfortunately napa only had a listing for one drum so the hd drums must be unavailable.

...check again on Rockauto. I don't own stock in them....but they show several options and I think their price is better than what NAPA gave you.

More info on brake parts needed.

I just got the drivers side apart and noticed there is a small cable that is broken. It looks like it holds the lever back that sits on the adjuster screw. Ive checked rockauto and napa it seems you can buy most of the parts separately and as a kit for this axle. I cant seem to find this little cable separately and it doesnt appear in the picture of the kit.

Hmmmm. That looks like the cable for the auto-adjusters. Only thing is I can't think of any 4x4 trucks that came stock with the auto-adjusters in 1961-1966. My 1966 2WD truck has them, but neither of my 1966 F250 4x4 trucks have them.

I thought they were only used with the newer designed 12" x 2 1/2" front/rear drum brakes for 1966 2WD, and then not all 2WD.

The part number for the Brake Shoe Adjusting Lever Cable Assembly is

C6TZ-2A178-A

Which, again implies 1966.

I have at least 9 of those NOS in the packages, but they also reproduce them.

1966 Ford Truck Brake Adjusting Cable New C6TZ 2A178 A | eBay

But, notice how it says 1966. I can't imagine this would be correct for your truck unless something has been swapped out.

Good luck!

Chad

That's what I was sort of half remembering. And then it was a different part number for the adjusting cable than 1966, too, so something to keep in mind if a swap was made at some point, I would think.
