So I have a 93 F-150 with the M5OD R2 5 speed in it. The truck will feel like it shifts into gear but when you let the clutch out nothing happens. And I believe 4th and 5th are okay. I can let the clutch out in those and it'll stall so those go in and catch fine.
Sounds like your shift fork for 1-2 are worn beyond operation. Have to pull the top of the trans off to replace them. Don't let it discourage you, it's actually a very easy job.
Alright well I'll be pulling the tranny tomorrow so I'll give it a look. Ive been told that it needs rebuilt but then again the person that's telling me this isn't really the best mechanic. So I'm only taking it with a grain of salt.

I wouldn't pull the trans just yet, you can pull the shifter boot and roll the carpet back to expose the floor plate. Then remove it and you have access to the top of the trans. A few bolts and off comes the top cover, and you can inspect the shift forks with out pulling the whole trans out.
Oh sweet alright well I willbe going working on it a little today so I guess I can add that in to my to do list. We just picked the truck up yesterday for 200 bucks. Engine is solid and runs damn good and the only issues are the tranny and power steering is out. I'll upload pictures later on today.
It is much easier to do the extra work and remove the seats!

I mean I already cut half the carpet up to make room lol. It needs the interior to be redone and since I'm restoring the whole thing I said **** it. Got to the shift forks and the rear one was completely worn out and the front was still good. Ordered the replacement and waiting on that to put it in. Hopefully this solves my tranny issues and get this puppy back on the open road!
Cool hope new ones fix it. I just hit the local junkyard and grabbed two whole top plates with forks so I can just change them out. While you are in there, pop the plastic plugs out and either put in metal plugs or pop them out, rtv them and pop them back in. This will help prevent future top cover leaks.
Don't drive with your hand leaning on the shifter. That is a big NO NO. The forks are made from the softest steel made by man. If you rest your hand on the shifter it will put pressure on the fork and with only ATF as a lubricate inside it doesn't take much to wear it out(as you see).
The last M5 I had apart, 3-4 fork was paper thin. The PO apparently drove around town with his hand resting on the shifter.
So we may have hit a road block in this. I don't remember what gear It was in when I pulled the top cover to get to the shift forks. So I don't know if I'm ****ed or not now...

I don't ever do this. The jack wagon who drove it till the tranny **** out did. What's even better is that the stick is snapped in half and now there is a tube through it and you shove it back through the hole of the other stick. It's the ugliest and the most floppy shifter ever.... going to get that fix too.
