Won't start can't here the fuel pump running like normal at start up. It is getting spark. I disconnected the connector just before the tank to check if power was getting to the pump, nothing. Both fuses for the fuel system in the power distribution box are ok. Can here the relay clicking on and off when fuse is removed/replaced. Could it still be the fuel pump? Should I be able to find power at the connector? Is there a device to shut power to the pump after it reaches a certain pressure in the system or is it in the pump itself? Maybe another relay or loose wire problem?
You could Check your inertia switch. The pump should only have power for a second or two when you first turn the key. I don’t think it has any pressure sensing. Also I think The fuel pump only has one fuse.
And you shouldn’t be able to hear the relay click because it only has power when the engine is running and for the first couple of seconds after you turn the key to run.
Where exactly is the inertia switch? I know it is supposed to be under the dash right side but I haven't found it. Dash removal needed? swapped relay with the one next to it (exact same numbers) no luck.
Gotcha on the have someone else turn it over. Probably should test at the connector just before the tank also? It has 4 wires, my guess is one hot one ground two for the sender?
When I tested the first time it didn't hit me that it would only be hot for a few seconds without the motor running, D'OH.
OK it's the pump. Got power to the connector. Any trick to disconnecting those fuel lines? Got the clip off but the line wont come off.
Good thing this is not my primary vehicle. It can sit between posts here.
