Keep in mind that while replacing the harness isn't necessarily hard (just a bunch of plugs), it's fairly labor intensive, especially if you want to replace the interior harness. I suspect all the labor hours would exceed the value of the truck.
It won't be too bad if you just plan to replace the underhood harness.

That's probably what I'm going to start with and go from there. I'm not worried about putting in the hours myself I plan on keeping the truck till well till it falls apart
Well got the truck back today. The guy who I talked to said I'm gonna have to get the dash torn apart too. Here are some pics from under the hood i think I'm gonna start there then work my way back hopefully get this squared away by the end of September.
Based on your description it for sure sounds like electrical problems and while I'm not to sure what you are taking pictures off I can promise that it already has tell tale signs that someone was in there doing some evil stuff to it. Give us some pictures of the botched wiring you were talking about on the wiring harness. I'd like to get a whole idea of how bad it is. Also the under hood harness is not hard to replace. Worst part is getting to the PCM bolt.

Well the pics I took are the passenger side near the battery, is there some place in peculiar you would like to see?
I'm not really sure what those pictures were of either. The only thing that really stands out are the broken hard plastic vacuum lines (red).
Not the negative cable for the battery just sitting there next to the intake manifold in the last picture? (Just messing with you not trying to pick on ya)
To the OP looking at how bad those cables are first place I would start is replacing the positive and negative cables making sure they go to the correct spot and get rid of all the wires just hanging around.
Trav
You need a ground wire to begin with that should look something like this:
The tab (w/bolt) goes to the frame, the lug (end) to the front corner of the block, the pig tale to a green bolt on the inner fender corner. Then we'll talk about the hot cable.
Okay cool well I think I'll start there with replacing the negative wire will post more pics soon I'll take some of the wiring harness and the under the hood harness as well. Thanks again everyone has been a big help on setting me in the right direction!!
My 02. It doesn't look really horrible under the hood. I was expecting worse. BUT, the first thing to do is put REAL battery cables on it. Those clamp on replacements are HORROR and will loose connection due to corrosion. Buy both and install them and that will be a good start in getting reliable power.
That red lead that is all taped, looks like the original wire to the starter?
If nobody takes pity on you & posts you a 92 specific wiring diagram (sorry, don't have one), a Ford EVTM manual on CD can be had on ebay. A the very least, a Haynes (useful for a door stop) manual will have a fair wiring diagram, but you'll need to work for it.
Your "hot" cable is an "assembly", I'm pretty sure as far back as 92 it carries the O2 wiring as well as the starter relay to starter solenoid wiring. If somebody hands you a single cable at the parts store for the hot, its wrong.
Likely no local parts store is going to have the true factory harness wiring for it. Only the battery portion. The dealer "might" still have it available? Getting up there in age though and most of this stuff is NLA.
