OK guys, I've read about the superchips and about the K & N filter but here's one more question. Flowmaster exhaust with 3" pipe. I know my expedition will sound fantastic, but what types of gains should I see? Possible slight horsepower increase? Mileage? I'm planning on getting this done in two days. Actually good price too, $283.00 for the entire system with 2' long tips.... Any input?
I noticed a slight performance gain in my 98 Expy with the Flowmaster catback system and a K&N drop in air filter,a bit more when I added the FIPK,tried a Hypertech chip and noticed no difference with that,go Superchip. BTW,my gas mileage dropped in the city as it sounded so good with the Flowmaster and the FIPK I was always on the throttle.Get it over 3000 rpms at WFO and you'll hear what I mean.
Thank you guys. I'm getting the system put on today. I put a K&N filter on yesterday. We'll see and I'll let you know... I've got a black Expedition Sport with 20% tint on the windows, 17" wheels, etc... I think it's gonna look goooooood.
It's in the shop right now...... You know, this shop actually runs 3" pipe all around, 2' long chrome tips out the side of the rear qtr panels, etc.., for 300 bucks.... Not bad.
I was thinking about purchasing a flowmaster too. When you purchased yours did they just replace the exaust from the catalyc converter on back or did they include the section from the exhuast manifold to catalyc converter?
It's a cat-back system which is important because of the back pressure. I went 3" pipe all the way with 2' long tips. It sounds great and with the exhaust, K & N and chip, I actually chirped the tires.... (I don't make a habbit of that, I'm too old) Great stuff, highly recommend.
