rough over 2000 rpm
My 1986 ford f10 5.8 liter carbureted engine runs smooth at idle and at rpm up to 1800to 2000 ....but when over it starts to run rougher and wants to backfire when I let off the gass down the road. What is this and is it a simple job I can handle? Please help.

Sounds more like a vacuum leak to me. Try spraying some carb cleaner around the base of the carb while it's running and see if the idle comes up. Also check any vacuum lines to see if they're cracked or split.
