Rough Idle-Rich mixture?
I have a 1992 F-250 with a 460 CI engine. When starting the engine cold the exhaust smokes a little (black smoke) and there is a rich fuel mixture smell. The engine idles very rough when cold then smooths out after it warms up. Any suggestions what is causing the problem?

Rough Idle-Rich mixture?
Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator. Puel the vacum line from it and see if there is any gas. Let us know what you find.

Seen it a million times.Your oxygen sensor has taken a crap,that will throw eveything out of wack.could be,just a suggestion.

my truck was doing the same thing about a week ago and i replaced the o2 sensor which didnt do anything for me except cost me 50 bucks, but i changed the fuel pressure regulator and it fixed it, so good luck to you by the way the fuel pressure regulator is about 30 bucks

Did the pressure regulator have gas visible from the vac line? Mine does not.
