The front and rear fill plugs on my Diffs are both so screwed up to the point there is no way to get them out. I was wondering if when I remove the diff covers could I drill a hole and install a plug in the cover??? if so what size hole should be used and what could I use for the plug??? If i can't do that, how can I refill my diffs after a lube change if I can't get the plugs out???(and I mean the plugs ARE NOT COMING OUT, believe me )
I am unsure if that will clean all of the shavings out if I am drilling on the front of the diff and draining out the back I would imagine some if not alot of shavings might get caught in the gears and not drain out. I have never done a diff lube change before so bear with me
If thats your last resort,B&M makes a drain plug kit.You can get it at any good parts store.Just install it as close to the top on the flattest surface possible and you should be ok.Good luck, and keep us posted on the outcome.
With the rear axle you'll have a problem drilling it out. But with the front axle you can do it. Just remove the diff completely and drill out the plug and install a new one. Clean off the back of the TTB cover and put the diff back in.
