Hard to believe

I just found out that most imports come to the US through New Jersey.

Not just from Europe, but from China as well -- by a large margin.

Hard to believe, so I looked up the routes. The site I found noted that the distance to NJ was about twice the distance to LA. (about 6,000mi further).

Amazingly, the rate was about the same for both routes.

Go figure,

hj

There's more people on the east coast. So fewer truck miles.

actually, most of the imports into port newark/elizabeth are rail transport, not truck transport.
on average, 2 ship loads of cars and trucks comes into port every day.
they will unload 6,000 cars in a 12 hour shift.
