Any body else have this issue?
About a week and a half ago our 2016 Transit started running a little rough accompanied by the check engine light coming on. Took it right up to the closest dealer to us. After some internal dealership issues they finally diagnosed it as a bad throttle body, told us there was a campaign or recall on to replace them. Part has been on backorder for a week or more, no status on part arrival yet. frustrating, to say the least.
I just got our Transit yesterday and although we have not had any issues with the throttle body, the Van did go into "engine fault" mode and limited the speed at which it would drive. This happened about two miles down the road from the dealer. I turned the van off and then back on and drove another 10 miles before it happened again. We turned around and went back to the dealer and they quickly identified it as the mass air flow sensor becoming wet. Apparently there is a recall on the mass air flow sensor too, they swapped it out and we were on our way. No issues on the 5 hour ride home.
Well, got our van back, it was in the shop for almost three weeks waiting on the throttle body. (That's what we were told) Funny how the part "just got there" after we had been standing in the dealer's service area for about an hour and trying to get a status on our van that everyone seemed to know nothing about.
I found it interesting that there was no TSB or program identifier info on our receipt or any mention of one being completed in the remarks/description of work on the receipt. What are we supposed to think? Unfortunately for them this is probably going to cause us to shift our service needs to one of the other dealers in our area. (Wash., D.C.) There are multiple choices. Three weeks without the van. Good news is it's running fine now!
