So I have a method of transport and rail tracking information in mine. A date sticks out. "7 01 16" not sure exactly how to interpret everything but interesting. Seems like it has been built...
Cant get the image to directly post.
This vin was posted on another topic. But it shows 11,500.
It will be very sad if I need a dually or a Ram 3500 SRW to tow a 15K fifth wheel with 5 people in the cab to stay within my GVWR! [7800# truck + 800# for passengers + 100# misc stuff in cab/bed + 200# for hitch + 3000# pin = 11,900# --> within Ram's 12,300# GVWR, 400# over for the 2016 F350 SRW (and the GVWR on the sticker above)]
I'm still hopeful that Ford won't leave their GVWR 800# lower than the 2016 Ram 3500 SRW with all of the improvements they've made. I'd actually have to go test drive the Ram.
I agree. It would be sad and make no sense as well. They boxed the frame, swapped the axle, beefed up the springs, increased HP/TQ, and increased the tow ratings but kept the GVWR the same? I don't see how that's possible.

Why the surprise at this? This has been known all along, hasn't it? This is all a repeat of the F150...several hundred pounds of weight savings, the GVWR stayed the same, but still net's an increase in usable payload.
The F250 is the same, just less net increase in usable payload...since all the weight savings was re-invested into the frame, axles, etc.
Not to mention these GVWR's are mostly a legality/license registration issue, not necessarily a reflection on the truck's capability...but that's a whole other discussion found elsewhere.
A couple of reasons for the surprise if the GVWR really stays the same. Rodney has stated one, and the other big one is that Ram's 3500 SRW has had a GVWR of 12,300# for a few years. Why would Ford let Ram beat them on the one number that is the problem for those trying to stay in spec for towing a fifth wheel?
If the order guide is correct that the GCVWR for the F250 can be 25,700, it would be almost criminal if the GVWR is 10,000. The truck will weigh less than 8K, leaving a tow rating of 17,700 with only 2K of payload? You'd have to load the trailer very poorly to have a pin that light!
My salesman says he still has nothing for me. Where was the place again where I can enter the order number and dealer number into a "chat" to get info?? Not the window sticker link above, but the one mentioned a few weeks ago. Thanks.
I was really hoping my window sticker would be available, but I got that it has not yet been made.
My last 5 vin numbers are 17275 which I thought were pretty low, o well will try back later! Thanks again for the information, can't wait and hopefully we get number July 11 when they start building them.
