Post moaning sound E250, van

I just bought a 1995 E250 van 300-6 with c-6 transmission. A moaning noise develops at speeds above 45 mph which sends vibrations throughout the body sheetmetal. Is seems to be coming from the rear but hard to pinpoint it. I've had the bent driveshaft straightened and rebalanced, replaced both u-joints and replaced the tires one by one looking for broken tire cords. The noise continues. Any clues as to its origin or cure? Thanks in advance. Lefty

have you opened the diff case. take the wheels and drums off and pull the cover plate. look at the fluid that comes out and then with a 5/16 wrench take the locking bolt out and visually check over the spyder gears and the ring and pinion. there might be some wear starting. that will cause a "groaning" noise. while you have the axles out you might as well spend the 15-25 bucks and replace the bearings and seals in the rear also they might be the cause.
