Where's the chrome?

One of the things that has always impressed me is the chrome front end of some super duty trucks. The view in my rear view mirror of the massive amount of chrome has always impressed me. While building my dream SD today I realized that the 2017 SD does not have the amount of chrome available that I was hoping for. The current body style offers the chrome trim ring that encircles the front grill. I hope that I'm missing something. I reviewed the pictures and videos but did not see anything that has the amount of chrome I was hoping for. Still a great looking truck. Guess I have had too many Harleys.

Yes, the chrome grille outline is gone, but the two big chrome grille bars are larger than before. In my opinion, losing only the outline is not too big a deal.

No such thing as too many Harleys

I agree, never too much chrome. That's why I don't like the King Ranch or Platinum---no chrome bumpers (yes, I know you can add the chrome bumpers to the King Ranch). I have had numerous comments over the years about the chrome front end of my '08 250 showing up in people's rearview mirror. I may change my tune when I see it in person, but the pictures look like the new front end will be lacking in chrome.

Through the years the chrome front has grown and grown. Chrome is an accent and should not be dominant. I welcome the reduction in mass of the fronts lest we imitate the 1957-58 Buick Roadmaster.

Just wait a few months. I am sure there will be aftermarket shops producing all kinds of chrome for the front. Personally I like the simpler understated front. I have watched the front end grow in chrome since 2001 and now it is time for some of us basic fellows to have a chance at a truck we like. At first I really disliked the front but it has grown immensely on me and I might nominate it as one of the best since '78-'79.
