many times ?
You should be stopping EVERY time if you are following the law.
stopping some of the time is hypocritical Your state ? No, I'm pointing out hypocrisy I surmise you have NEVER done that ?
Making eye contact with a driver who is supposed to be stopped while I have the right of way was what the discussion was about. I also go over the speed limit when I drive.
Well you win the Internet today and are the most Superior Person here! Good on you!
"Quick 10miler"....
Lol I couldn't do a 10mile bike ride for any reward/compensation.
Everybody's different.
Anyway, I have an appointment with a Glass Doctor franchise for this Saturday morning to install a new Carlite windshield. And then an appointment at 1:30pm for full frontal SunTek CPK 55 windshield tint. I'm going to ask if they have a shade darker
In my 11 years/half million miles in central Florida I don't remember seeing any bike riders of YoGeorge's kind.

10 miles ain't squat
Back in the day...I used to ride up Highway 9 Ca. 2 times a day on a BMX bike As in the line from the song "from the hills from Santa Cruz". From Saratoga to the top. Oh and yeah it was 7 miles just to get to the bottom. One trip , one way , from my home to the top was 22 miles. ( I had huge thighs back then) One gear, which was suited for downhill rather than climbing on 20" wheels.
Why? To run the dirt trails down.
10 miles on flat land ain't squat especially with the road bikes of today.
That's ridiculous Wildman. Keep your negativity to yourself. Funny how some people join in and praise "thread drift" on other threads but then come in here and crap on me.
If you have an ounce of integrity you'll go back and see that the thread drift was began by YoGeorge and JimandNena.
And then you'll apologize for your inappropriate comment.
Windshield complete! I am truly impressed. He arrived at 10am and he was driving away at 11:00. He told me he's been doing this for 21 years in three states. He was a true professional. I really liked that he let me watch the whole process and he answered my many many questions the whole time.
Driving my van right now for the first time since the new windshield was put in… And wow! I had no idea the old one was so bad…
This feels like a new set of eyes. Also the wipers work perfectly new better than ever before. Now I have to decide if I should put some of that rain repellent on this thing.
Just spent some time hand washing the van and what do I see? But a perfect little drip running down the inside of my newly installed windshield.
I'm sure it was an honest mistake/whatever, but....
This absolutely sucks. These jokers are going to have to warranty this OUTside of MY work hours. I already skipped 4-5hrs of work and I can not miss more.
O.P., I think you will like Rain-X. A lot, if you do a good application. I clean my windshield first with a solvent to try to get nay oils off (which even your new windshield may have acquired). Then I rub it down with glass polish to get anything the solvent missed. Also, if you have some Bleche Wite whitewall cleaner (I don't have whitewalls but it does a great job cleaning any kind of tires, and a lot of other rubber products around the house and shop), use it to get all the oils and whatever off of your wiper blades.
My experience is that the Rain-X application works best on a warm (and dry) but not hot day. Two coats. The coating gradually degrades, I think mostly from the wipers, but while it's fresh, it's like magic. Also, if your wiper motor is getting old, having the windshield treated with Rain-X is a good back-up until you replace it, and will get you home in reasonable safety if the wiper motor should expire on a wet day.
As to liking to point out BS, humanity offers a target-rich environment. One example is excessive, I say excessive respect for legalisms and going-by-the-book. There is always a crowd insisting on following the law at all times, often the same crowd whose motto is "My country right or wrong." The Nuremburg war-crimes trials evidently didn't convince these folks that there are times you can and even should actually use your own head. In calling B.S. on the 100% legal compliance crowd, I could first point to all the cops who are speeding at times when they are not on calls or chasing anybody, and they make rolling stops just as Yo George does and I do. This country, encouraged by our all-powerful and unaffordable legal establishment, has developed a belief that setting up enough legal procedures will take care of our various problems automatically. The result is so much legal regulation that some industries can hardly function, and overseas competitors (who often are insufficiently regulated, yes) take our jobs.
Too long. Should have just said, IF nobody's coming, a rolling stop is fine.
But that is a very big IF; I will never forget a bicyclist who was rightly angry and yelled at me for left-turning too close in front of him (he had been in my blind spot, and I was paying too little attention). It was after a full stop, not a rolling stop, but I could have hurt or killed him just as dead. Particularly in a big van that's a little hard to see out of, you can't drive on auto-pilot, distracted. That incident bothers me thirty-some years later . . .
