I need some help/direction figuring out how to get my puddle and cargo lights working again.
2011 Lariat that I added led running and bed lights as well as a led projector light (under door). They have been working fine for about 2 weeks, but the other night I noticed the cargo and puddle lights stopped working. The interior lights still come on when the door is opened and with lock/unlock. Here is what I have done so far:
Removed all lights that were installed
Replaced fuse (I think it was #12). It was fine but I replaced it anyway
Power at the fuse
Power coming out of the box
No power at plug to puddle light
This leads me to believe there is a problem in the wiring harness from the fuse box to the puddle light. I'm not sure how to confirm that this is the case or if there is anywhere else I should be looking.
I've read that I could have fried the bcm but I would think if I did I wouldn't be getting any power coming out of it for the puddle light wire. I'm going to double check what I've done so far because I'm partially color blind and there's so many damn different color wires!
Anyway, thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
Any update on your situation. I’m having somewhat of the same issue. Passenger side puddle light works no problem. Driver side isn’t working. From my diagnosis there is something going on with the purple wire. It’s getting power up in the driver kick panel. It’s getting power from the harness on the side of the truck. But as soon as I plug the harness from the door and test it right st the connector it gets no power. So fustated with this damn light I just want it to work. Help
"Andrewmk26" it sounds like you have a short (or disconnected wire) from the fuse box to the light. If you have power out from the fuse and none at the light- it has to be in the wiring.
"Marco" it sounds like you have a simular problem, just a different wire- now have you checked the wire(at the puddle light) down to the kick panel area for continuity?

the violet wire down in the driver side kick panel has power. It’s just as soon as I plug the door harness in and test it from there it’s gets no power. If I can’t figure it out I’ll going to put s junper wire
So tonight I noticed the light turns on and then dies out and comes back. Then dies again. It’s comes on very faint then nothing. Wtf is going on can someone help
Did you try: 1. turning the dimmer up, and 2. setting the timer up a few more seconds. This problem may have something to do with the timer. But I'm only guessing. Can you test the voltage at the puddle light wires to see what voltage it's getting to start with and going down to.-WAIT!!While I was typing this, I starting thinking, DOES IT HAVE A GOOD GROUND? Check the easy stuff first! You may have to add a better ground. Then move on to the dimmer and timer.

i don’t have anything to test the voltage. And maybe I can add a better ground on the light. But the ground on the light is tied into the signal in the mirror. It work no problem this morning when I left to go plow. So weird wtf
