I have a 1966 F100 with power steering probably out of a later model Ford. Saginaw gear box. I lost power and I thought it might be a loose belt but I am pretty sure its not. No loss of fluid. I cut the belt off because I could not get it tight enough to stop squeaking and it was not working anyway. My question is does the truck now steer like it was a manual setup or is power steering with no power harder than a manual set up to steer? I have no frame of reference and do I risk messing up the steering box driving it with no power?

With a P/S box with the belt removed, it's going to be a lot tougher to steer than w/a manual box.
You sure your truck has Ford/Saginaw P/S?
Bendix P/S: 1966/68 F100/250 2WD / 1969 F100/250 2WD before serial number D96,001.
Ford/Saginaw P/S: 1969 F100/250 2WD & F350 from serial number D96,001 / 1970/79 F100/250 2WD & F350.
Power steering was not original to the truck and I saw this picture and its what made me think it was a Saginaw but according to your diag it looks more like a Bendix so I am not sure. Below is a photo, I know its not the best but maybe you can tell. I appreciate the info, I am only going to replace the pump but I was curious on the differences in lost power steering and manual.

Can anyone offer any advice on how to remove the pully from the old pump and getting it on the new? I am hoping I can rent the needed tool from the auto part store just not sure which type I need. Also should I flush all of the old PS fluid from the system before adding new pump?

You posted this a while back, but I'm checking to see if you got any help with it. A couple years ago when I removed the pulley from a Thompson type pump (the earlier one with the round metal casing), I bought the puller. It was not very expensive, I think about 20 bucks. I think I also used it to re-install the pulley. Might be worth the purchase if you can't borrow one.
Yep, even though thread posted some time back, if not solved I would 1st check the belt alignment, may not have a match set of pulleys? Speaking from experience, upgrading to P/S on my 65 the belt alignment was oh so slightly off and after a couple years, and replacing the alternator bracket found the pulleys were not a match set, I either had to replace the crank pulley, or the water pump pulley, $20 later purchased replacement pulley and it solved the problem?
