Here is the story as it is. I have a 1995 F150 302 with a ZF tranny. The truck has about 280,000 miles on it. I went to the shop to find what was wrong with it and it had a vaccum leak, needed a new clutch(first new one)and also i have some internal proplems.....The guy said that the lifters neeed work and somthing on the piston the little pin that holds it to the connecting rod is messed. I Aked for the price he said 2-3,000 bucks and i said fix the clutch and the leak.:-X23 So i went looking for a New or rebuilt engine and i found a few. I would like to know is a 351 hard to swap over in to a 302 Speed Density truck. If so i alos found a 302 that would be a = to the one i have except for the Speed density. I found both engines at
http://www.autoengines.com/index.htm The 302 makes 275hp and the 351W makes 300 hp for about 200 bucks more please i need some input or i am going to trade the truck in and get another one like it love the body style..
im pretty sure that the 351 should bolt right up not quite sure though, i dont know anything about the tranny you have so im not sure if you would have to change anything on that, if you dont get a good response here though i would try either contacting autoengins.com or callin you local engine shop that you would get the new engine put in (unless your doin it your self).the 351 that you are lookin at is the same one that i am thinkin about gettin for my truck so if you do decide to get it tell me how it performs and stuff.
I think you've probably hit your limit on life of the 302. The cheapest route would probably to find another 302 and just replace that. A 351 would also bolt in place, but you'd have to find another computer/distributor from a 351.
