Tailgate on a '72 F250

how do you install the tailgate?
on my '02 and others, one side of the tailgate bottom guides is cut so it will slip on after the other side is inserted, but this tailgate is like that!!!

Do one side like you would, slip it on, the other side you have to drop in from above, with the pivot in the cup already. So one pivot has to be unbolted.

And, if you've got nice paint, use lots of masking tape.

Styleside or Flairside? I think the flareside gates require unbolting one of the lower hinges. Styleside gates should install like any modern gate.

It doesn't.... one side has to be unbolted as Garrett stated previously.

.. And while it's off, consider installing Energy Suspension's tailgate poly bushings and cad-plated pivots... It gets rid off the Bumpside mating call that occurs when the tailgate is raised or lowered.
