I have a 1990 f350 4x4 crewcab 460 motor ,checked codes twice using MIL -both times i got code 777 & 465. i couldnt find these on the code lists. does anyone know these codes or did i mess up the test?
thanks for the reply Egor, yes i too expected 2 digit codes. im going to try it again when i put it back together i had to
do a valve job. as far as my truck go's i had a rough idle driving me nuts. i never had a check engine light "on" i just did a compression test (low on one cyl.) , and checked codes.. my test went like this. warmed up truck to temp, turned off , put jumper wire on correct terminals under hood, started truck and waited.1st i got 4 flashes then truck idled up to 1600 RPM then down to 600 then back to 1600 then 600 couple seconds later got 1 flash couple seconds later 2 quick flashes.couple seconds later got 7 flashes pause 7 flashes pause 7 flashes longer pause then got 4 flashes pause 6 flashes pause 5 flashes. it repeated this twice then stopped. another think i noticed was that after testing my truck no longer idled at 750 like it should it only did 600. is it possible my codes might be 7 4 6 & 5
That's a little too confusing for me. I think I only paid about 30 bucks for my digital reader, it's pretty simple to use and it stores the codes so I don't have to write or remember anything. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
just did the same test today after i swaped out dist., after KOER stops flasing all the codes it idlels at a certain rpm so that you can set timing properly, if you stop during this test you will have to reset base timing.
^ the computer just runs the advance up so you can make sure the computer advance is working. You don't have to change base timing if you turn the truck off or end the test after the codes are flashed.
