That does sound promising Dan. I hope you keep us apprised of the situation. I am interested in what you find. Pics and video would be nice if it's not too much trouble.
If it was me, I might try getting a pry bar between the pump fittings to kind of jam them against each other so they don't turn, then take one line at a time off completely. From what you've posted so far, I kind of have a feeling it's going to end up being a valvetrain issue . . .
Is there enough room to get a flare nut wrench on the line fitting? I know those fittings tend to be "sticky," for lack of a better word. I've found that getting a wrench on it and giving it a sharp rap with a hammer is usually effective.
I wedged some tools between the fittings, got them off.
So, I didn't have a proper GP adaptor for the Harbor Frieght compression tester. Lacked a oring seal, I will make a proper adapter but I did get some rough numbers.
1) ~400
2) ~400
3) ~380
4) ~360
5) ~360
Kubota gives a compression range of 400-440, with a low limit of 315, and max variance between cylinders of 45. I'm sure the numbers will get better with good tools.
It appears that this is going to turnout to be a fuel issue.
I'm going to adjust the valves and perform another compression test with a new GP adapter.
I set the valves, did a compression test. Although stone cold room temp, the results were nearly the same, high of 390, low of 370.
Now how the get the pencil style injectors out...they are stuck tight, I imagine with carbon. I've looked at the attachments that fit on a slide hammer, (and the Kubota WSM shows the same) I guess I'll fab something up.
I made a gadget to remove the injectors. They gave it up pretty quickly. So tomorrow the injectors and pump go to the service shop. Now to find someone to go through the starter.
Injection service shop called. Good news I guess. The 5 injectors check out fine, but two of the five injection ports on the pump don't build any pressure. I gave him the OK to fix it. Now I guess I wait.
You are going to have it up and running like new soon, my man. Thanks for the update.
Not quite...I have the Alt and starter being gone through. Then I was investigating some, shall we say, wiring modifications....the instrument panel...nothing works. No tach, hourmeter is gone, fuel/temp....nothing.
Trying to locate someone that can work on it....a replacement panel is ~$1000.
