Will I have a problem?

The oil change before today's I used MAxlife. I only had it in there for about 1k miles. I went with Mobile drive clean this time. Do you think I'll have problems? I heard that Maxlife causes seals to swell. Now that I have gone back to a normal oil, I just hope it don't start leakin!

Yeah, I'm being serious. Since you used Max-life last time, that swelled the seals pretty well , then you add a conventional oil to the mix. This causes the swelled up seals to shrink smaller than when the car was new. Thus, causing numerous oil leaks you will never be able to find!!!

Think of 100% cotton shirt. You take it home and wash it and dry it. Then you put it on and it's a size too small. It works the same way with those darn oil seals. SO like I said before, GET THE DRIP PAN READY!!!!

Will I have a problem?

The oil has only been in there for about 40 miles, should I drain it and put Maxlife back in?

Doug,
These high mileage oils contain esters like the PAO basestocks have to cause a slight swelling of the seals. If your seals were in good shape before, they are fine now. Your seals are designed to have a slight swelling with dino oil, they are not going to shrink.

Like I said Doug, if your seals were not leaking before, they aren't going to leak now because of Maxlife. Relax and enjoy the trip.

Will I have a problem?

<~The look i'm giving dtpatt2!
Flash,I know of (2) vehicles that started leaking after using Maxlife oil.One was a 99 E150,4.2,107K miles, the other 00 Chevy 1500 4.3,89k miles. These are my buddies plumbing service van and truck. He decided since they were over 75k miles it was the rite thing to do,to switch to the Maxlife.Well, his brother, who is his partner changed the oil to regular Castrol GTX,within 500 miles the seals are now leaking.Didnt leak before the Maxlife, but now it does.Maybe its a very slippery type of Castrol he got ahold of......
