low clutch pedal
The clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and slave cylinder are NEW. On the advise I received on my post under "new clutch",I just replaced the clutch master cylinder today. Helped maybe a little, but basically the same problem.
The dealer that inslalled the clutch says "thats the way they all are just live with it". I think the guy is tired of the truck and just can't figure the problem out. My 2001 had the same powertrain and the clutch was not like this one.
I've done some research and found a TSB numbered 99-1-6 that states its for this problem. But can't get any more info than the listing number. Of course the dealer is just to busy to "waste" any more time on this.
I need to get this fixed as I'm leaving for a 2 week vacation out to Montana, Sept 1. I'm not really crazy about taking the truck out there in this condition.
Someone out there must have run into this condition, or knows about the TSB 99-1-6. PLEASE help. THANKS..
This is straight off the ford service DVD.
ISSUE:
A low clutch pedal engagement and/or hard shifting after operating several kilometers/miles may occur on some vehicles. This may be caused by air in the clutch hydraulic system, loss of clutch hydraulic fluid, or ballooning of the clutch hydraulic line damper due to temperature and added clutch load causing the clutch to release with pedal against the down stop or not release at all.
ACTION:
Check for air in the hydraulic line of the clutch slave cylinder and/or proper fluid amount in cylinder. If fluid is sufficient and no air is in the system, refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Check to make sure the routing of the reservoir-to-master cylinder line is not looped over the brake master cylinder reservoir thereby allowing air to be trapped in the line. The line should be routed from the master cylinder across the lower front of the brake master cylinder reservoir to the clutch reservoir. Then verify if the clutch hydraulic system has fluid in the reservoir.
E-mail me if you need more info.

99-03 F-Series Clutch Inoperative:
There has been yet another update to the clutch hydraulic system on the Super Duties. If the clutch system is inoperative, and it is found the problem is in the hydraulic system, replace the system as an assembly with P/N 2C3Z-7C522-CA. Broadcast Message 9955.
You will have to order the master cylinder pushrod, F81Z-2143-BA, seperately.
I had my system replaced with the updated prebled unit an no more problems.
I did go back and "educate" the 1st dealer that did the clutch install. I wish I had brought my camera to get a picture of the stupid dumbfounded look on their faces. Moral of the story is make sure you have competent service department working on your truck.
Thanks again....

Also check the Clutch fork. The dad blamed thimg is bent on my truck. Makes for really low engagement.
