So unplug it while it's running? Or unplug it then start it.

Unplug and take it for a test drive, you'll get a CEL and will be smokey any change in performance will pin point the sensor is bad or the line is bad.

Good luck.

Good luck.
Ran the truck unloaded with the new cps, the unplugged the map sensor and drove it. Cel light came on, and the truck egts at idle wouldn't go below 400 degrees. But I honestly think the truck had more power with the map unplugged. Same amount of soot though.

So does this mean the sensors bad or is something plugged? If the cel light comes on when I unplug it, it should mean the sensors good right?

If it runs better with the map unplugged then either it has a bad/clogged hose or the sensor is bad. I'd change the hose and make sure the barb on the plenum is clear then go from there

Took this thing out and started poking and proding at it to try and clear anything in the way. I tried every parts store in town and noone had a map sensor. Except ford who wanted $250. I asked them how much is the meth because u have to be smoking it to think I'm gonna pay 100% markup. I just went to autopartswarehouse and bought a $20 one. I'm sure it won't last long but while its new and working correctly I'm going to plug it in and see what changes. Might save me $120.

This discussion is now subscribed for me. Learned a lot by simply reading 3 pages.

My 1996 7.3 is having the same issues. immediately following, a fuel leak has been detected. Not sure if the two are connected, but coincidence in my book is not to be overlooked. At the shop currently as I have way too many projects to tackle tracing a fuel leak.

For the record, I also had the Cam shaft sensor replaced. Took care of the chugging/pulsing. Now its back, and with a fuel leak. We shall see....and I will let everyone know the shops outcome.

On a separate question, what is riff raff you keep referencing? The only riff raff I am aware of is -->
