Rear Channeled Bumper

I am prepping a rear bumper that is ridged top and bottom. The ridge is more squared on one side and more rounded on the other. The photo (not my truck) has the bumper with the slightly larger and squarer edge facing upwards. It fits of course either way but is there a way it was intended to mount or is it basically drivers choice?

Send it to me and I'll try it out on my truck for a while in both positions. I'll report back any feedback I get from people. May take a while though.

Maybe I can save you both shipping costs! You'll find a notch on one corner. That is the bottom. Same applies to the front bumper. Stu

I am an F100 guy and not much help with the finer points of the F1 series but I never ceased to be amazed at the level of knowledge that folks have on this forum about these trucks. There is something so satisfying about learning new things, especially when they come with "hard evidence" to support it and not just "my truck has it this way". Good job Stu!

Thx. I learned it from a guy showing his Dearborn Award winning F-1 at an EFV8 Club national meet a few (gosh, probably 10 now) years ago. Then my donor truck pictured reaffirmed it. Stu

I too am amazed. These guys KNOW their stuff on this forum and freely offer help and advice.

Bill (Number Dummy) blows me away with what he always comes up with too.

You get it all on this site from original to the dark side without much conflict at all. I'm so glad I found this site.

I too am amazed at the knowledge of the people on this forum as well as my lack of it. You won't believe this but I saw that notch and figured someone ground that into it for some reason and I welded it closed!

Perhaps I should grind it back in .

OK, I found the notch though it wasn't easy after it was welded closed and nicely ground. But from the backside I can barely see some of the notch. The conclusion? The larger squarer edge of the bumper faces down, just the opposite of how I was planning to mount it. Thanks Stu . . . oh yes, and thanks to Scotty for his gracious offer as well! Everyone here is always very helpful. Some with great technical advise, others with an uplifting sense of humor, and some with both.

I call my grinder my "eraser". My welds aren't so pretty. Stu

Me either. Luckily, I am a pretty good grinder!
