I've been reading these pages but didn't find the answers...
'93 5.0 - BONE STOCK.
I'm looking to make some serious upgrades to the truck here shortly (S/C, headwork etc...) and am starting w/ intake and exhaust. I'm pretty sure I'm going to use K&N for intake unless y'all reccommend otherwise...but for exhaust:
I don't care about sound (in fact, quieter is better), performance means more to me- as for cats, dual pipes, 2-1, x vs. h, header types- what's the best package for PERFORMANCE?
I've never been sold on manufacturered cat-back systems, so I had a local shop custom do a dual exhuast setup with pipes on each side. They are 2.25" and I ordered a Edlebrock muffler. Flowmaster is more popular, but I got my Edlebrock for half the price, and it is the same as a delta-flow 70 series.
I have the summit-racing headers, and if I did it again, I would have gotten full length headers and a new cat, with true-duals. I believe it's a better setup.
I didn't see it at first, but I found some of their results, interesting what turned out to be the best intake combination...I wonder how well these will transfer over to a 302 though...
My winter project (after I pay for the wheels and tires) will be headers from summit ($160), high flow CAT ($80), and a 3" single exiting infront of the pass. tire ($60) Stainless possibly? ($140)
