Guys I have tried almost everything I know of. I cant get this thing to roll over. I pulled up in the yard Wed. afternoon changed the TPS and then tried to start the engine . DAMN it wouldnt even try to start ! I have taken out the plugs and it wouldnt spin. I have the plugs out and I cant even turn it over with a three foot breaker bar ! I am going to put some oil into the cylinders and try it again after lunch .Im going to be looking for a 302, maybe out of a Stang , a 351 out of 250 or 350 , or a 460 out of a 350 with EFI if I could find one.
I would love to find a good 460 EFI and swap that puppy
Yes its all doing what it is supposted to. I did start changing the oil about 2 weeks ago and got pulled off. Later I needed to go to the land fill and loaded the trash up and took off. Just as I pulled out in the road hit 4 gear I looked down and thought my guages wernt worling . Then I remembered that there was no oil in the motor. I turned it off and coasted in a lot , walked home and took the Jeep back and oiled it up. It started and ran good the oil presure came up and I checked the oil for grit and fillings. I didnt notice any at that time. I drove the truck for another 2 weeks then started to change the TPS , cleaned the Throttle body and some of the intake, I even pulled some of the stuff out. Put it back together and tried to start it. It only turned over about 1/2 turn and never moved after that. I did try to hook it to the Jeepand break it lose. No go on that!
Have you pulled ALL the spark plugs to make sure it's not hydrolocked? Can you hear the starter hit the ring gear? Do the battery terminals get hot if you keep trying?
Pull the plugs out this morning and tried to crank. It only clickes . I tried to pull it across the driveway without the plugsand it just drags the tires
sometimes it is a solenoid if it clicks. have also seen rusty battery cables cause this believe it or not, cleaned them or stripped the end off reattached and it started fine, this happens without warning as you may stop at a store and go in come out and all it does is click. Hopefully it is something this simple and not something serious.
