Hi,
ABout 10-12 years ago we had a bathroom redo. They put down some nice floor tile, but it uses grout.
It's time to do a little regrout -- the original stuff is cracking in a few places.
I don't know if I need to do it all, or just where it's bad.
Anyway, I found some one step grout that looks like it should work, but there's an issue. They recommend using an acid type clener to prep for regrout. (sulfamic acid ). I read about the stuff and it seems pretty nasty. Bad fumes , don't get any on your skin etc etc.
I'm hoping that there's a less drastic prep that would still give good results. I understand that you'd want the new stuff to bond, but I value my lungs.
I had my kitchen, hallway and downstairs bathroom tiled about 13 years ago. Last summer I had a few cracked lines in my kitchen grout. I used a sawzall with a grout blade to remove all the cracked damaged grout and then laid in some premixed grout of the same color. The repair came out pretty amazing. Much easier than I thought it would be.
