Looking for an X

Hello everyone
To give you some background, I am not mechanically inclined in any shape way or form. However, I have recently received custody of 4 children (4-9 yrs). I have 2 large dogs (60# and 80#). I have a 32 foot bumper pull "ultralight" trailer that at max weighs 6600#. It is 5400# with batteries, propane, and dealer stuff. I currently drive '12 Silverado crew cab and 1/2 ton z71 with the 5.3L. It did well when it was me, the dogs, and another adult. The truck now hates the trailer. And I hate towing with my trucks cab packed to the rafters

Therefore, I am looking at the large suv route. There isn't much on the market these days for the type of animal that I need. (I refuse to spend the $$$ on Yukon Denali just to get a big gas engine). I have been looking at the Excursions. (There aren't great gobs available in az in good shape). I have seen these two. What do you all think? And what should I expect for issues??

Widen your search area, if you can.

Yea, I would definitely widen your search area. Those are both nice rigs, but you should be able to find a nice diesel for about 10K less than that.

The 05 is clean but it would have to be recently studded to be worth $31,000. It should be $10,000 less.

Wow those are some gawd awfull prices. The 05 is worth 20-22k and the 03 7.3 is 16-18k Imo.

Widen your search, also try ksl.com the car classifieds have quite a few excursions in them. There are lots of excursions here. Southern Utah excursions are as good as AZ rigs as far as rust goes.

Is it going to be a DD or just a tow pig ?? Unless you have a lot more money to spend after the initial purchase you might conciser widening your search to include a 6.8 V-10 . Sits around well & will be 10 to 25 K under the ones you posted . It will easily handle the TT you have.

It may have to become the daily driver unless I keep the Silverado.

I figured if I can keep my $$ out at 16k, I can pay cash no payments. Then, the Silverado will be my DD or trade it in for an explorer or journey. What should be my "run away" signs on a V10 or PSD. I plan on making a purchase in next 3 weeks

You can't think like that when shopping for an Excursion. Make a purchase when you find the right one...even if it takes a couple of months.

Some samples from Texas. If needed, we over here in the Lone Star State might be able to take a look at them for you.

Stay away from the 3rd one. It's really an Indiana vehicle. I assume you're looking in the south to find a clean one.

I wish that first one was around when I was shopping for mine. I got yelled at for asking if I could go look at it.
