help with brakes
The engine has been changed from the 390 big block to a 429BB
with c6 auto tranny.
the front calipers are the duel piston type .
Im having some trouble getting a firm pedal after bleeding.
I have had to replace the power assist booster and master cylinder and both front calipers.
there were no leaks at any of the connections.
I did have some leakage around the proportioning block...not sure if that is what it is called, the place where the plastic sending unit was.the block that the master cylinder lines go to before going to the wheels.
Can I use an old one as good as a new one . called the truck dealer in louisville and said it could be ordered for 180.00
used almost 2 quarts of dot 3 in the bleeding
the chilton book had a refrence to a tool to put on the front of the porpotioning valve that lets you bleed the fronts. this tool is just a clip looking thing that when you pull out a little valve on the front of this block, install this clip to keep the valve open while the bleeding is going on. this poprotioning vale is the only thing that was leaking and that was fixxed by putting a pipethreaded plug in that hole where the sending unit came out of . now no leaks.
but when I pump the pedal 3 times the right rear tire locks up
