hello I have been reading up on doing the SAS for my 88 bronco. I have found an axle at a junkyard for 800 dollars out of a 90 f350. I was going to buy it but then i got to reading more on doing this swap and Ive read that 86-96 60's it is hard to mate the radius arm to the axle on the driver side due to the pinion being moved over 5in. has anyone swapped the late model axle under a half ton using coils? I cant really find any info on using the newer axle. All of the info that I've found has been on the 78-79 60. Ive already bought springs and radius arms. Now Im not sure if I can use this axle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It is true.... you should have got the 78-79 Dana 60 for the swap....
The reason is that you cannot get the wedges/c-bushings properly mounted with the pumpkin moved over that much. There just isn't enough room between the diff housing and the knuckle!~
There is always leaf springs........... or custom front susp. links.......
Thanks for the reply. I am just gonna go with a 44. I can find one of those pretty easy and i can still use the parts i have already bought. I also will not have the issue about my wheel bolt patterns being different when I put the axle under it. Well thanks again.
