What did you do to your Super Duty today?
#436
my today has been inprogress for a month plus now.
replacement of rocker tips, pushrods, saddles and associated fuel lines
debating on glow plugs
and wondering if I am going to regret not doing something with injectors
its a lot of work to get to the rockers on a 2010 6.4. body had to be lifted 3 inches to get to everything and breaking those body bushing bolts with their spinning nut plates was not an easy chore.
everything is disassembled and starting on re-assembly today.
Im good for about 4 hours of work at a time before I need to call it a day so its slow moving, but its moving.

Yikes that's a lot of work for only being a 2010. What happened?

This has actually been a two week project. it started out by installing 4 switches in the overhead console for some future roof and shell cargo rack lights. I could of ran the wires without removing the headliner but I always wanted to install some sound deadener on the inside of the roof.
I had 3 pieces of fat mat left over so why not throw them on the exhaust side of the floor since I already had the seats out. after removing the carpet I saw that I only had dynamat on the back seat area, I thought I had done the whole floor about 8 years ago. I ordered some more fat mat and started cleaning the carpet and seats.
after finishing the seats I realized that my 16 year old carpet was just too far gone so I ordered a new one.
I also wanted to add a couple 12V cigarette lighter ports so the kids can charge their phones from the back seat instead of running a extension with a Y adapter from the front to the rear seat. I found a dual usb, 12v port on amazon and decided to double up. this completes phase 1.
phase 2 starts tomorrow with a redhead steering box, new power steering pump, radiator with internal trans cooler, trans lines, water pump and all cooling hoses. I was going to do a full system flush and switch to the gold coolant but why bother when the green hasn't given me any problems in 16 years and 188K

I flushed it all out last year. I'm just going to drain, refill and top off with fresh green coolant.
I'm really looking forward to the new steering box. right now I have to turn slightly early for big turns on the freeway and correct it before coming out of the turn. it's always a learning curve when driving it after not driving it for awhile.

bought it with 85K last Nov. everything looked and sounded fine during purchase. changed all the fluids and filters once I got it home and put about 3K miles on it. during that time had valve drive train noises that came and went....the kind the TSB's say is normal. I parked it 3 month later until I could learn the in's and out's od what I was headed torwards. when I pulled it apart found enough to suspect that the valve train noises could be resolved once I finish the job. BUT, could also have some lifter and cam problems waiting to be discovered.
paper work shows me as the second owner. truck was traded in right after warranty expired. oasis reports shows no repairs.
truck has a fifth wheel bracket which should of been the clue to bail on the deal. guess it has 85K of hard miles and the famous 10K service intervals.
taking 3 days off this week to finish the job and see where we are at.
fingers crossed.

Where did you get the carpet kit from and is it OEM?

Haha I knew I should have taken some but it was dark and cold and my fingers and toes were kinda numb I wanted to get done haha. They sound pretty damn good though. They do make a box for super cabs like your that goes under the back seat don't know if you've seen those or are interested in doing it.
Wow darkjedi351you got one hell of a sound deading project going on there I'd like to do some maybe not that much though I would think doing the roof would make a big difference in both sound and temp since there is nothing under the headliner.
