Driving today and heard a pop....pulled over and found the intercooler tube were it goes into the intake, the fitting area blew apart.....110k miles, no mods
.....is this normal, pulled into Advanced auto, of course they don't have the part, got a ride down to ford 5 miles away, used Advanced tools and was up and running in 2 hrs. , Looking around on the internet I see aftermarket ones, will I get another 110k miles out of second one, of should I go after market heavy duty????

 

There have been a few failures like this. Not common but common enough that I know about it.

There are aftermarket ones out there. Since you already bought another one I would not invest in an aftermarket one.

 

Don't feel bad mine went with 40k miles. Had it replaced thru Ford, covered by my ESP.
I don't think im gonna get a spare for the toolbox unless I blow it again!! Being broke down isn't my idea of a good time!

 

the only good part is it only takes 10 minutes to change it....
