Currently I have a '92 Bronco 302 with a 24" glasspack as my muffler, but it isn't loud/aggresive enough, so I'm looking for something else. How would it sound if I just dumped the exhaust after the 2nd converter? Or I was thinking of splitting the exhaust after the 2nd coverter and run dual 2" pipes out if front of the rear tires. Does anyone know what would be best?
i have a 1990 f-250 with the 351w. i have 1 highflow cat to a flowmaster 40 (original) with two 2
1/4 inch pipes out the back. loud as hell! turns heads, very agressive good sound
Either ditch the second cat and put the glasspack back on or get rid of both cats and run a highflow with your glasspack. Both will be loud and sound good.
hey u guys to get a GOOOOOODDDD sounding exhaust run TRUE duals wit NOOOOO cats and 10 inch blue bottles(glasspacks) then it will be fukin awsome. a whole ton of guys in my town wit chevys have that and its fukin sweet as hell. i got a 302 and i put true duals no cats wit 16 inch bullets (glasspacks) wit 2 1/4 inch pipe but it dosent snap or crakel like the chevy boys which i would like but it roars trust me its loud. but also its illegeal but so many guys have it in my town the cops dont care!!
Everybody wants to know how you can get straight pipe sound with still running cats on your truck..well i have devised a system taht makes it seem like you are running straight pipes but the cats are still in place....yup and guess what...it costs NOTHING!!!
Ok...so i bet your all wondering what the heck ya do..right?...Well its simple go to the garage and get out your trusty 1 inch drill bit and stick it in the drill.....no go underneath your truck and drill 2 holes in each cat....make sure you round the inside out witht eh bit to get most of that evil sound deadening material outta there!!!
We did it on my dads 98 F-150....sounds like straight pipes yet still have the cats intact!!
Here's what a friend of mine did. You have to keep your cat right? But you want that straight pipe sound.
So he took the cat off, and put a pipe through it. That's right, the cat casing is there but it's a straight pipe right through baby. It sounds so good. He even passed inspection with it like that. Don't know how but he did!
I've heard that if you run straight pipe out from the cat it will sound loud but the key is to have a tip that points toward the ground. This makes the sound bounce off the ground, ahich makes it louder. Has anyone else heard this? I was thinking about doing it to my 86 F150, but I wanted to hear from somebody that has actually done it, before I spend time on it.
hey nuts4hotwheels....yeah i did that to my '90....sounds great with turn downs under the cab...im running true duals and flowmasters, w no cats...sounds awesome..i seem to be getting less gas mileage....but thats the only downside, that any maybe the bed vibrates at idle......but im totally happy with the turnout
How do you think turn downs would sound on a '91 F-150 with stock cats and a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler? How much more noise can I expect in the cab than when I had it exit behind passenger rear tire?
I experimented with my exhaust, today and was dissapointed. I put one of those flexible exhaust tubes that you use to fix your exhaust pipe on right after the cat so I could experiment with pointing in different directions to get the best sound. To my great dissapointment it was very quiet. Is this because of the cats restricting too much flow? If I put a high flow cat on will it make it louder?, and how much trouble is it to change your cats?
I am debating whether to use a high flow cat or a cutout to bypass the stock cats and run straght pipes and switch it back when I want to pass inspection or want it more quiet. A cut out with a cable to switch back and forth and CATCO high flow cats are about the same price. Will high flows be loud enough for what I want or do the still restrict too much.
