Finally some thing to post. I found a trailer big enough to haul my truck home. I'll have it here on Tuesday. Have to figure out which Y-block is in it then clean up the cab inside, rebuild the carb and clean out the gas tank. I will be a happy camper come Tuesday.

Firstly, WELCOME to FTE! Secondly, THANK YOU for your service my fellow vet!

THIRD: YAY! Another '56 F500! It was just over a year ago that I purchased my own '56 F500 that my wife dubbed "Ethel." I spent several hundred hours on the old girl in 2015 and finally registered it January of this year. It's a slow, loud old girl that really needs to be "driven" or else I'll go off the road; much unlike today's vehicles. But it's a fun truck that turns heads everywhere.

Here is my build thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...on-thread.html

I've pretty much done everything to my truck and have basically all of the information you'll need. Ask away, and I shall answer.

Congrats on the new toy!

It definitely looks differently. A pickup with those large tires and wheels. I think you did a great job on it.

Got the old girl home yesterday, finally!

Started to take off the side boards and end boards. 76 out and I'm dying. Could be in Arizona though, I would already be dead from that heat. You southern boys can laugh now. LOL

Any way; the bed wood is crap so it has to come of too. Tomorrow I'll get into the cab and take out the seat and clean every thing up. Pics to come!

Tore into the bed this afternoon; what a mess. Someone covered the oak bed with maple hardwood flooring. Off to the dump in the morning.

Keep up the great work! I really enjoy seeing these old "big" trucks being put back on the road.

Three days with a hammer and crowbar and the wood is off of the bed. About a third of it was rotted both the hard wood and the oak bed.

Made for one hell of a mess in the yard.

Next, the cab interior. every thing has to come out.

I have been going through a lot of builds since I joined. Have gotten a bunch of great ideas. I'm just getting into the tear down portion and will be asking a lot of questions as I go.

Looks like the process is starting.

Out of curiosity what is the 8 lug rig in the back. You can just see the radiator and part of the engine

pgg00, that would be my 76 CJ7. Put in a Chevy 350, auto trans, and 1 ton suspension.

Just another project. Building to be a rock crawler.

Got a little done today. Removed the seat, fuel tank and old rubber flooring. Was amazed to find no cancer in the floor anywhere.

Did, however, find several old mice nests. to include one on top of the glove box.

Pulled off the newer seat cover to find the original upholstery in very bad shape.
