I have a truck camper that goes in the box, it weights about 2500 lbs. I have no problem when i cruise on the highway at any speed, any RPM. No problem also if I go genlty from a start.
The problem is mainly obvious when I have a heavy load or if I would push it hard going a very steep hill. When, let say I go from a stop, with the camper on, if I try to accelerate a bit too fast, I have a vibration that seem to come from under, a bit behind the seat, and mostly at around 1800 RPM.
Also, if I climb a hill from a start, then it vibrates quite a bit, The harder I press on the pedal, the more it really shakes. This is again mainly at around 1800 RPM, if I lower the rpm, it does not vibrate, if I go, let say over 2200 RPM, it quiet down. But pulling hard at 1800 RPM, it rattles badly. At first I tought it was the road.
I think it could be either the transmission mounts, engine mounts, rear end or drive shaft, but for drive shaft, would it not vibrate at all speed.
Help needed before I take it to a garage. I love garage... they are so helpfull... and so cheap.... Thanks for your hlep
I have the similar problem unloaded, mine is a speed related thing, 47-55mph there is a nasty vibration, but mine is right below my feet. I wish I could figure it out. I have had people around here telling me its everthing from driveline to tranny to something in the front end???? The dealer says its nothing to worry about??? I need to find whats causing it, its driving me crazy!!!
Kidoo yours sounds a lot like a bad carrier bearing. I would change it. It's relatively cheap and you can take the driveline to a shop and have it pressed off and a new one pressed on in a few minutes.
I had vibration problems on my f150, tried everything from wheel balance to alignment. I'll bet if you get down and take a real close look at the seals on the ujoints you find some are shot and the ujoints on the drive shaft need replaced. It took me a long time to figure it out. Mine also was worse at certain speeds. I think that is because of harmonics. Anyhow, check the ujoints. I could see some of them shot and the needle bearings had no grease and there was rust in the bearings. If you can't see anything just take the drive shaft off and check them. Mark everything first with crayon so you put everything back exactly like it came off lining the marks up because the drive shaft is balanced.
