351M Overheating
I have replaced the thermostat with a new Motorcraft RT-139,DOAZ-8575-A 195 degree thermostat. Replaced the water pump with a new one and installed a new radiator. I also installed a new mechanical temperature guage. Set the timing at 12 degrees BTDC with vacum advance disconnected, readjusted the air fuel mixture on the 2 barrell carbuerator. Flushed the cooling system with Prestone's Super Flush and thier 2 part flush with the neutralizer. The system doesn,t pressure up like the head gasket is bad. There are no bubbles in the coolant that pop up constantly. The temperature runs from 200 to 215 without pulling my trailer with mt tractor on it ,don't want to get it too hot.The truck is a 1977 F-350 with a standard 4 speed with the granny gear. I also removed the A/C evaporator core from in front of the radiator.
