new beginning for 66 F250
With 140k on a 352 I'd like to think this truck will last me for many years to come. It is however my first antique car and predates my birth by almost 20 years and Ive very little experience with mechanics, I'm more of a carpenter. So I'm searching for advice on upgrades I'd like to make on it and need help navigating the marketing industry to find the right parts.
I plan on pulling her apart this coming winter to start the work so I'd like to have everything I need ready to go before I get started. The following are projects in mind.
-4 wheel performance disc brakes.
I've opted for a kit, just need to know which ones to look at. It's a 2x and I live in the mountains. I need something I can trust with a full load of lumber or trailer in tow. I'm willing to buy new wheels if needed. As well as running all new lines ect.
-Fuel tank relocation, from behind seat to under the bed. Complete with new lines ect.
-Rewire the whole truck.
I was planning on getting a harness from lmc, This job seems more strait forward and something I can handle with some direction.
-Replace steering column
the rag joint looks pretty rough as well as all the parts around it, I figure I should replace it all at once. I'm OK with manual steering but if I'm doing all this work at once I'm wondering if it's worth the upgrade to power steering.
All said and done I think this work will get me through till I need to replace the motor someday down the road. who knows maybe by then I can switch to a tesla motor and battery...I can dream anyways.
I'd appreciate any advice I can get regarding these improvements. Thanks.
