Carbed EFI Intake

Hey guys a while back I heard a couple guys at one of the local car shows talking about someone mounting a carb ontop of the EFI plemun on a 300 inline. I talked to them about it a little and they said they had never seen one but said that they were told you had to do some machining on the plenum to get a square mounting surface for the carb. Has anybody heard of or seen anything like this? If so does anybody know how well it worked. If this could be done I think it would be a killer low end/midrange manifold.

I have thought of this setup before. Not really sure of how this manifold would perform, but it would be fun to try

You would have to either leave the fuel rail, or plug up the injector holes somehow.

What about a decent side draft carb mounted where the throttle body was bolted?

Again, I don't know how this would run, but if you had a spare EFI manifold and some time it might be worth a try.

Not a clue. Snowmobile carbs have more jetting and can be better fine tuned, but try to find one big enough.

Weber makes side drafts, two barrels and has for years, so are SUs but you don't want those.

Do you think there would be a puddling problem with the side drafts? Do you actually think this would work or is it just to far for the fuel to travel? What actually gave me this idea was my Firebird. I have an 87 Formula with TPI. The TPI has about 20 inches of runner and makes for an excellent torqe manifold, the only difference is on the bird its just air going through the runners on the truck it would be fuel and air. What do you guys think?
