I have a 2000 v10 excursion with about 215000mi on it. replaced almost everything under the front end and just got new tires today. But now there's this new vibration at 45 and 55 mph. It doesn't always occur, and it seems to be an overall vibration not just from my steering wheel, any ideas?? Anything is helpful at this point I'm at a lost
I would take it back to the tire shop and have them rebalance those new tires, sounds like a tire issue.
Thank you! But i crawled under and it looks like there's a spot on my rear drive shaft that looks like there used to be a weight but now isn't...But it's also pivoted, is that normal or could that have caused a weight to fall off?
Sorry, I read your original post as saying that you just got tires and NOW had a vibration, as in now with the new tires.
If the driveshaft tossed a weight then that could give you a vibration at speed. I have no idea what you mean by it being pivoted though.........

Wow rough day, I ment pitted. No clue how I got pivoted. Deepest apologies, this post is a mess. I see how the tire thing was confusing also. I've had the noise before the new tires, and I ment its pitted. Very rusty and what not.
Update : Turned the rear drive shaft 180 and currently driving it, same vibration at 45 and 50 when accelerating, it definitely feels like it's coming from the back.
Side note : I've had the vibration since a month or more ago when It rained, the new tires were to try to solve the problem (obviously they did not)
It is possible that your vibration may not be suspension-related at all. Since you mentioned it started with rain, you might have rain water getting in passed the hood seal and pouring down on the engine (If I recall, it's the #4 plug that usually gets the majority of the water leakage).
I've been ironing out misfires since I got my Ex going, and let me tell ya, a cylinder or two that are constantly misfiring really feels like a driveline vibration! It had me looking in the wrong places for the source of vibration- even KNOWING that I had a rampant misfire. Just something to check, especially when you mentioned it starting with rain.
By the way, my driveshaft is severely pitted as well, and doesn't seem to cause any vibrations.
Thanks guys! And see I would consider the misfire but I just got it back from the shop and had all the coil packs an things replaced because it was running REALLY rough after it would rain. It sucked gas, was running louder than usual, and would idle horribly. Took it in had the coil packs replaced, new spark plugs, shocks, had a tailpipe put on, and new hangers (since I'd lost mine). And although it's running better in general, there's still the pretty hard shake/vibration. And it seems to be coming from the back? Do you still think it could be a misfire?
Another thing that caused misfires for me when I first got mine going was the electrical plugs to the injectors. I don't know if it's common or what, but both my V10 Excursion and my V8 Super Duty have the same problem on ALL (all 18!) injectors- the plugs no longer "click" in place. I had to take mini wire straps and secure the plugs to the injectors to keep them in place. That might be something else to check. With my Forscan app, a misfire code doesn't seem to know the difference between a COP not firing and an injector not getting power- it just sees a misfire.
I had quite a vibration at 40-up and it turned out to be the CV joint on the rear shaft at the t-case and the rear pinion was out of round and needed to be replaced as well.
Turns out I'm just crazy, took it to the shop had a front end alignment and the vibrates gone. They said it was probably the worst they ever seen .... (My tires were half bald on the outter side)
