Interchangable Fuel Floats??
I have a 1970 Ranger F100 and the fuel float is way past gone. No place here has any 70's in junk yards and the float has been discontinued by ford. I was wanting to know if the fuel float and arm is interchangable with anything else, new old, it doesn't matter to me. Thanks

If you want to replace the whole sending unit, most auto and boating stores will have them in stock. They're not very expensive either. I'm not sure if a new unit would work with a factory gage though. It depends on the electrical properties of both. Maybe someone else could help with that info.

I think that the arm will interchange as long as the gas tanks are similar sizes. I took the unit out of my 78 because the float had a hole in it. The parts are discountinued by ford as you said. I went to a old ford guy and he gave me a float. It was small and barrel shaped and was made of plastic. He also said that you can use SEAL ALL the fix any holes. THe **** works too. It resists gas and holds to the float. Also works on gas tanks.
