5.8 engines

Can someone tell me the differences in the F250 5.8 computer systems from 91 and one from 95. I am pulling the engine in the 95 to use in a antique and i know i should use the earlier computer. Tell me what the 95 reads that the 91 doesnt so i can bypass what i need to. Also my 90 5.8 F250 stalls when hot and timing seems to be issue. How frequent are stretched chains on these trucks.

The engine control electronics in a '91 F-250 and a '95 F-250 5.8 are the same. The '95 doesn't "read" anything more than the '91.

The factory chains are roller and stretch is not a big concern...it can and does happen but I certainly wouldn't be starting there as a possibility.

Why do you think it's a timing issue?

The differences in the EFI systems from '91 to '95 are the location of the TFI ignition module(distributor vs fender) and possibly the IAT sensor(intake vs airbox), and it's much more likely the '95 truck would have a computer controlled trans although it's possible both or neither had one, but if they did that was also controlled by the same PCM and that would make it unsuitable for use without that transmission.

Thanks guys. Let me tell you what the 90 truck is doing. It starts and runs good cold but when warmed up it it stalls and then doesnt want to crank well at all.It is like the timing is too far advanced. It has already had a new throttle body sensor a idle control valve tune up and module put on it and moved to the fender. The timing with a light seems way out but was moved to get the vacuum close for the fuel. Any suggestions?

Did you remove the spout connector when you checked the timing?

Yes he told me it was. That was a mechanic that told me about timing after I installed all except module.
