Question 2004 vs. 2003

It's that time for a new baby........

I'm going Diesel this year....... replacing my 97-F-350 w/ 230K miles and this truck is still going strong.....but for how long.

anyway, my question?????????

SOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How's the sound on the 2003's??????? or the 2004???

My business associate has a 97 F350 powerstroke and hear him coming from 5 miles away --

I'm thinking of getting the 2003 (at a good price hahahaha) when the 2004's are out.

What do you all think?????????

I have a '02 7.3 and they are a little noisy when you first fire them up, but after it warms up it is actually pretty quiet at idle. Not that bad at highway speeds either. I can easily talk with back seat passengers without raising my voice. Stay away from the first 2 or so years of the 6.0 If you want a 6.0, go at least 2005 or newer. I do agree with WesHoffman49, the 7.3's are much more reliable than the newer generation diesels. It's a great motor, that's why I got a 2002 and not newer. I was even looking at a 2003 king ranch that cost less than what I bought, but it had the 6.0 (aka 6 blow) and a little higher mileage. 7.3's are hard to beat.
