I have a 1994 F350 XLT with a starting problem. When I use it drive it for a while, shut it off for a short time then try to start it again and it won't start up, the starter just spins. I checked that both fuel pumps are running prior to starting truck. I have replaced the following items on the truck. The started module, the ignition coil, the entire distributor and all fuses related to starting. It does not matter if it is dry out or wet. I can start it again after the truck cools down. Does antone have any ideas? I was thinking on changing the wires and the plugs.
Thanks
More info...Does it have the Dura-Spark ignition? I think it does. Is it a 460? If so could be the spark module is getting ready to go. Also be sure all grounds on the start AND ignition circuits are clean and tight. Heat causes increased resistance. With bad grounds it makes electrical components work even harder when hot. If the module or other electrical components are on the edge of going bad thats when it will show up. There are several places to find good trouble shooting procedures on the Dura-spark system. Its been 25 years plus since Ive worked on that system. I dont remember if the hall effect in the distributor needs to be replaced with the ignition box. I wouldn't even know where to look for my Ford Dura-Spark troubleshooting guide.
A quick google produced this... its a pretty good one
