To me....and this is just my opinion...but why not just make "Longer" running boards as an available option.....instead of making it look like a 5th grader stuck a different color lego on the end??? Just offer "regular" and "extended" boards that will cover what owners choose on the truck.

It matches the small dark colored piece on the other end near the front wheel. It may look better in person. I didn't order it on mine, but I'm 6'5" tall anyway.
I'm 6'5" 250 too Troverman (I say too, but you may not have the belly I have ) but I'm getting them, I think they finish out the sides better, IMHO
I'm not a beanpole, but not too out of shape. I seem to be able to reach in and get most of what I need out of the bed without trouble, unless whatever I need is right in the center of the bed. In that case, I usually just hop up on the tire and climb in. The dually will put an end to that...but I did order the tailgate step. Of course, if you had a gooseneck or 5th wheel hitched up, the extended steps help considerable.
You're right, at that cost, why not. I'm content with the standard board length.
The problem I have is reaching the pin to unlatch my fifth wheel hitch. It's 3/4" too far out of reach, and with the slightly taller truck, I'm sure that will make it worse. I'm not sure I want this extended board though, as it does look a little tacky in pics. I'll have to wait to see it up close.

I like the retracting bed steps on the 150 better.
GM has a notch in the end of the bumper which I hate to admit is pretty damn handy. No moving parts and on the side so the tailgate doesn't have to come down. Thats about all my friend can get away with worshiping his GM over Ford.

Yeah, but if the tailgate is down the cable acts as a trip wire. No thanks.

The bumper cutouts are also ugly. You also have to be somewhat fit to swing up and clear the tailgate / bed. There is no doubt once down, the Ford steps are better.
