My fault
So before I start I guess I will take this one I. The chin, bought my 5th f150 last month. Se package, 302, trailer tow package........ Went to get camper........ Where the hell is the brake controller. Why in the world would this not be in the package. Yes my fault everyother truck has had it standard I believe so didn't really pay attention. Bad move ford talk towing all the time and this isn't in the towing package? Come on

You had to get the Max Tow pkg to get the controller included. It's easy to add one. The dealer can do it. Or you can oder one and install it yourself, but you still have to take the truck to the dealer to get the controller programmed into the truck's computer.

On my 13 the controller was included and it only cost $495 for the package. Now it's $895 for the package and the controller is $275 extra. Go figure. Your right though it should be included.

Cheaper to add it after the fact.

You'll need your dealer to plug their computer in to turn it on.

I agree. The controller should be included in the trailer tow package. My 09 has one that was part of the package. I was surprised to see it is an additional cost item now. I guess there is some logics though in leaving out for those that want to tow a trailer that does not have electric brakes.

I have never had a max tow in any 150 due to the mirrors ( I hate them) and the controller has been there. Oh well I will get one installed just doesn't make sense to me why it's not there that's all.

My memory is not great but I thought the brake controller was part of the towing package in 09. And the large mirrors were part of the max tow at one time. But they seem to be a stand alone option now.

Unfortunately it's never been included with the base towing package. It was much more commonly available in the Super Duties, which have had the controller an option since 2005. It was a new option to the F150 in 2009.

Not sure why it's sold cheaper as an add-on accessory than as an included option. Was more expensive for the previous gen if I remember right.
