I have a 89 d 250 7.3 diesel with dual tanks when I use around 11 to 13 gallons out of each tank the engine will accelerate and die back and and will shut down and will not crank I let it set for couple hours and will start back and go for a mile or so and do it again I can fill them back up and will run fine for 130 miles or so on each tank any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Inside the tank is a ( cone of failure ) that will fall off or disintegrate you will have to drop the tanks and add a section of hose th the fuel pick up line to reach the bottom of the tank, its a common problems for our trucks
welcome ot FTE. that is a standard problem with these trucks, the pickup tube in the tank tends to crack between 1/4 and 1/2 tank, and then suck air when the fuel level gets below the crack.
most of us just live with it and keep the fuel tanks over 1/2 full. others drop the tanks and repair or replace the pickups.
