Quick Mirror Question
Came out from work yesterday to find my rearview mirror hanging down just attached to the wire that connects to the back. My best guess was the heat loosened up the glue and caused it to come off. My question is should I just use superglue to reattach or is there a better option?
Quick Mirror Question
Pick up a rearview mirror kit from any auto parts store. They might even have them at the grocery store. It will include chemicals to prep the bonding surfaces, as well as glue.
Quick Mirror Question
i've never tried regular supper glue, so idont know if its the same stuff or not, but at any auto parts store you can by a little tube of mirror adheisive. it works great only for 2-4 bucks, its is usually with where you would find all the gasket type stuff like silicone. Thnx DW
Quick Mirror Question
Sounds crazy, but I used JB Weld on it. Didn't have anything else to use around the house, and didn't feel like going to the store. This was well over 3 years ago - and has held great.

Another thing you may want to try is to visit a winshield glass repair place. Usually, they'll do it for free. I've had bad luck with the kits you can get from the auto parts store, but two months ago when my mirror fell off, I just stopped by the glass place on my way to work and they attached it in about 5 minutes for free.
Just call around and see what you can find.

Yow, that's happened three times (over five years or so) on my '93 EB. Last time, (two years ago) I took an awl and scored a crosshatch pattern lightly on the mounting surface of the little oblong button, then used the aforementioned rearview glue kit from Pep Boys. Hasn't come loose yet, and I gotta believe the little grooves are helping maintain bond, as everytime this has happened, the adheisive was left on the glass, not the button.
Outline the exact place the button needs to go from the outside of the windshield with a felt tip marker. Be sure to clean the (inside) mounting area with the alcohol wipes really well, and don't forget to clean the mounting surface of the button also, after scoring. (if you get a little carried away with the scoring, leaving the surface of the button uneven, just smooth burs with fine sandpaper. Come to think of it, just roughing up w/course sandpaper might be as good as scoring)
Oh yeah - notice the button is narrower on one end. Be sure to put the narrow end to the top.
Good Luck -

Quick Mirror Question
Thanks for the advice guys. I picked up one of the rear view mirror kits at the auto store yesterday. I came with some sand paper for scoring the button. I haven't got around to putting it on yet because they recommend installing when the temps are under 75 and its been in the 90s. Doesn't look difficult so I should have it on this weekend.
