I could not locate any replacement panels. I also have had difficulty finding a metalsmith to tackle the job of repairing the doors. I presently have a lead to repair just the doors. if it ever stops raining and flooding in Texas I'll get back on it.
Thanks for your reply. I have the two blasted and primed. They're really in good condition except for the bottoms. If yours are good, I would be interested in taking a look.
They are not that hard to fix. Any halfway decent sheetmetal guy could fab them up and weld them in. Compare with paying upwards of $250 per for rust free shells, plus shipping.
Thanks for the tip! Now I have a price to work from. Just have to find a metal fabricator in deep east Texas.
Hi Charles i havent been on the forum lately, i might still have a couple door panels for the 57 to 60 doors, do you still need them ? if you could give the height and width measurements i will check for you.
I'm not trying to hijack your thread. Here's some pictures of the fix on one of my 40 panel truck rear doors. It was in much worse shape. As you can see it's pretty ametuer. I have a wire feed and minimal body tools/skills.
Where I started, there was nothing left of the one side that's trimmed out. I did it in 2 halfs just to try and maintain the shape.
The first progess picture with the part I had a shape for replaced.
The second phase. I just banged the patches out of some 22 ga from an old shelving unit.
Now onto the lower skin. I cut my from a junk front door but you can buy new ones.
For me this is the fun part of my panel truck build because it's a challenge for me. I have very little money into this door, just time. It needed a lot of other work too but they are kinda hard to find.
Here in LA LA LAND, there's is a long time (since 1929) family owned truck dismantlers yard that not only has plenty of 1957/60 doors, but a pair of NOS 1957/60 F700/1100 fenders.
I took Col Flashman with me there once, he found them, I had no clue they were there.
